Our Committee

Behind every meeting, exhibition, and workshop is a group of dedicated volunteers who give their time because they love art and community.

The Sutherland Shire Art Society is run by an elected volunteer committee who bring a remarkable mix of artistic experience, community spirit, and personal stories. Each one has their own reason for being here, and each brings something irreplaceable to the life of the Society.

I have been painting since the early 90’s in acrylics, and after moving to Orange in 2006, I started painting in oils as well. About 11 years ago I was introduced to Prismacolor Wax Pencils, and its my favorite. After experimenting I have discovered that you can use Oil Pastels with them as well for a fabulous effect. I was a member of Orange Art Society for about 16 years and President for one of those years. In July 2025 I moved back to the Sutherland Shire and became President of Sutherland Shire Art Society.

Drawing was a part of my life growing up, it was where I went to escape. However, as I began my journey into adulthood, it was set aside and neglected. When my mother and father passed away in 2021, it became my lifeline once again. I joined an art class and began exploring different art mediums, like Acrylic,watercolours and oils, all of which continue to give me great joy. I am continuously learning new ways to express my love of art and enjoy the company of like minded people. I joined the Sutherland Shire Art Society in 2025 and look forward to my once a week indulgence.

While I have been painting landscapes(in a classical style) for at least 10 years, I have also painted animal portraits and drawn for many years it has all been in a traditional manner. However, the Art Society has fortunately opened my understanding to new modern and exciting art styles.
